Day 7 with Shellac...

I'm getting REALLY eager to change this colour but it still looks good. I have some tip wear on the ring finger and a chip off the end of the pinkie. The nail growth is also getting fairly obvious... Please excuse the superdry cuticles; they arrived overnight, I'm not sure why?? I've tried treating them to Solaroil and Jergens hand cream but they're still not happy.
I got the new Boots 17 crackle top coat in the antique gold finish at lunchtime so I will do some nail wheels tonight for you to feast your eyes on!

Day 4 with Shellac...

Day 4 with Shellac, not a chip in sight! This is after a whole weekend cleaning the house and moving furniture around at the house! :)

Nail of the.. Next Two Weeks?

This evening I had the very nice Claire from Me To You Nails come to do my Shellac polish for me. After being hassled by Mr Naughty Kitten himself Elvis who is admiring my new nails in the second photo, wanting to sniff remover and play with manicure tools, we cracked on making some gorgeous nails.

In case you've not heard about Shellac hybrid nail colour from CND, this is how it works. Each step cures under UV light (i.e. between each coat of polish including the base and top coat)

1) Base coat
2) 2 coats of Shellac hybrid nail colour
3) Top coat
4) Zilch-o drying time and rock solid nail colour that doesn't chip for two weeks!

The hardest thing about this was of course the choice of colour... I originally thought I was going for "Red Baroness" but after seeing "Tutti Frutti" there was no going back. It's like Misa "Hot People Like You" or Rimmel "Stop Traffic" on acid!! I mean just look at that gorgeous blue shimmer! It should be called something else, like, "Insanely Volcanic Pink". I think I may actually love this polish for the next few weeks :D

Now the more experienced readers will be mumbling 'Geez she's never gonna last 2 weeks without changing her nail colour!' You're probably right but in the interest of nail, ehm, science, I will endure until the end (I can still paint my toes tho!).

I will be reporting a few times a week on the progress of the wear of the Shellac and I am hoping that I will be able to catch up on some beauty product reviews such as Superdrug Optimum Swiss Apple day cream and First Aid Beauty when I'm not going to be doing NOTDs.

So I'm really sorry Zeke the Evil Beech, there is nothing but nuclear pink for the foreseeable future on my blog. I will make it up to you by sending you some stuff in the post later on this month! :)

Some NOTDs and other stuff!

I'm sorry I've been absent lately; I was out of battery in the camera and my fancy Android phone refused to email update the blog... Not sure why. Anyway, I've been very busy lately mostly with my art class! The exhibition for us newbie artists is on Saturday and we all put up our work today. I had another very good piece apart from the octopus and yarn ball still life but wasn't sure it would be appropriate to show a naked man on my blog. Suppose I could have censored it but it would've lost the overall appeal... :P I'm getting some cool CND Shellac hybrid nail colour put on to wear to the exhibition so stay tuned for a review on Thursday night!

Anyway, the teal polish here is "Ocean Breeze" scented polish from Revlon. This had that faux-opaqueness of many Revlons, I could really have used another coat but this is already 3 coats with no top coat. I've cut my nails right down again to be able to type properly... So annoying with long nails. Anyway, this polish like my other scented Revlons has a lovely smell that lasts a couple of days! This has a fresh smell similar those 'outdoor-dried laundry' air fresheners. Even without the smell factor this is a fantastic polish!

The red is a super-hot jelly red polish from Fearne, which is Fearne Cotton's makeup line available in Boots. They retail for £5.50 and there are some lovely creme polishes! :) This is 2 coats with Fast Forward top coat for quick drying. Lovely! I crave red at the moment, I wonder why..

NOTD: Topshop "Summit"

I was sooo excited about this colour and it doesn't disappoint! This is 3 coats but worth it. I slicked some China Glaze FastForward top coat as usual as I had stuff to do. 3 coats is ok to do as this is a fast drying polish. Not too much bother with streaks either.

I am not sure what to call this colour - egg yolk, saffron, pumpkin, turmeric?.. Any ideas? It's yellow but slightly orange-y. Very lovely and I have no other colours like it! :)

Woohoo!

I managed to nab a bottle of the new Topshop nail polishes "Summit" tonight in the late night shopping, I will do a NOTD tonight with it to show you all! :)

NOTD: China Glaze "Orange Marmalade"

I felt my dark mani of yesterday was a bit, ehm, dark, so I went with orange glass-fleck glory from China Glaze today! I really love this orange even if it's sheer. This is two well-behaved coats with a slick of China Glaze FastForward top coat. Do you have favourite orange nail polish???

NOTD: Crackle and Color Club "Power Play"

I decided I wanted something bright and funky so I did this mani. Covers the dirt from doing the gardening perfectly until it washes off :P

I had another crap home hair colouring incident, much the same result... Never mind, I'm hoping Head & Shoulders washes it out soon! This time the culprit was the new John Frieda foam hair colour... I really must stop home hair colouring...

This is my kitten outside skulking around on his leash until he gets to go outside on his own! Very cute :)

NOTD: Zoya Matte "Posh"

I've had this on before but I really wanted something that didn't smell too bad and dried quickly, and this was what I fancied! :) This is 1 coat without top coat.

Also this is the bag I knitted over the weekend :) I love the pom-pom yarn, its soooo soft and squidgy. Perfect when you really need a handbag noone else has!
