NOTD: Misa "Hot People Like You"

Some days you just need something sizzling hot and pink! I love this polish; it's bright but innocent at first glance but then you notice the cool blueish shimmer and realise it is not as sugary sweet as you first thought! This is a 3-4 coat polish and usually I can't be bothered by such polishes, but this polish says "You know you can't help but worship me even though I am sheer!" And I can't. I love "Hot people like you" :)

Also I couldn't help myself and got "Beanie" from the new No7 collection with my last £5 voucher. And look how close it is to Chanel "Particuliere"! The Chanel is only a smidge lighter than "Beanie". So if you're in the UK, it looks like you have a £6.50 alternative to "Particuliere"!

NOTD: No7 "Queenie"

This caught my eye today when I was rummaging in Boots. It's a sparkly burgundy; darker and more subdued compared to China Glaze "Ruby Pumps". It could have done with another coat, but I didn't notice how sheer it was in places before I had slicked on MegaShine! Oh well thats my excuse for changing it tomorrow night :)

Exciting news!

Hey kidz, I went to Boots today and got 3 of their new shades for summer which were released today - the one I was most excited to see for myself was "Beanie", a supposed dupe to Chanel "Particuliere". And indeed it seems to be a dupe, as far as I can see, spot on! I didn't get that one as I already have "Particuliere" and I am so in love with it I couldn't cheat on it, but I did get some other nifty shades I will show you tonight! :)

NOTD: Rimmel 60sec "Sky High"

So this is my second pick of the 3 new Rimmel 60sec polishes. It's a lovely medium blue-turquoise. This is two coats over Nubar Nu-Nail. See the streak on the middle finger? I've noticed that Nu-nail makes the polish streak off when you put on the second coat, as if it has sort of loosened and sliding off the nail?.. Weird. I now think my recent spate of streaky polishes may be down to the base coat. I think I might re-visit OPI "Jade is the new black" with a 3rd base coat choice...

NOTD and weekend stuff!

So been a bit busy lately - its finally spring time and hence I am trying to be outside more. I got myself a pair of Skechers Shape-Ups too - trying to get back in hillwalking shape now after my foot is fixed and the weather is brightening up!

Anyway my NOTD for Friday was Maybelline Wet Shine Diamonds "Glowing Glimmer", a lovely coral glass-fleck polish! This is 2 coats over Rimmel "Coralicious", as "Glowing Glimmer" is very sheer.

On Saturday we drove to Macduff Marine Aquarium and checked out my fave fish lumpsuckers and these guys - cod. The North Sea cod may be a thing of the past soon - as a marine biologist by degree, I seriously fear that these photos will be the only thing we have left of them...

NOTD: Rimmel 60sec "Purple Reign"

I was on a low yesterday, so I got a zombie film, lots of chocolate and some surprise new nail polishes from Rimmel in Asda. Totally felt better for it! It looks like Rimmel has undergone another revamp of it's 60sec nail polish range - and added new colours.

I couldn't get a good photo of this - it is a medium purple shimmer with blue shimmer :) Very unusual! This is 2 coats over Sally Hansen Nail Quencher base coat with Sally Hansen MegaShine top coat.

The other colour is coming up next week - it's a medium teal creme called "Sky High" :)

NOTD: Sinful "Mint Apple"

I got this in my swap parcel yesterday. I've got quite a few creme mint green nail polishes already but this is very different - it has shimmer. Very spectacular! This is two perfect coats over Nubar Nu Nail with a final coat of Sally Hansen MegaShine.

And I did some gardening, or something like that! I visited a new garden centre and got myself some nice plants,a windowsill propagator and some seeds. May not be much of a "garden" until we move back to our house, but at least I can plant some nice planters! :)

French of the Day and swap parcel!

Look at these lovely polishes I got in a swap parcel from a lovely American lady today!! Oh, possibly the best range of colours I've seen a while! And look at the layering of the week - it's my new Claires "Magic" with a coat of Urban Decay "ID". Divine! :)

Those are I have no idea why I pulled out this gimmicky strawberry-scented French manicure set from Elegant Touch yesterday but I did :) As usual I couldn't be bothered with the tip guides that came with the set, I really have to start using them when I do French manicures on myself - this is a right botched job. Never mind. The packaging says it is strawberry fragranced and it to does smell weirdly of fake fruit; more like those scratch n' sniff stickers you got in the 80's than strawberries however. This farse will come off tomorrow and I'll slick on the astounding Sinful Color "Mint Apple" instead to accentuate my new NW3 by Hobbs leather cuff on Monday :)

NOTD: New York Color "207A"

I felt like a shimmering bright pink tonight, but this is too sheer to put on by itself - this is 2 coats over a coat of Rimmel 60sec "Funtime Fuschia" to bright up the opacity. Juicy and delightful indeed! :) It has a stronger blue flash than the photo shows. I added some cute little decals because I was waiting for my turn on the laptop.

This is a bit bubbly and runny but I am hoping it lives through til Sunday!

NOTD: H&M "Fashionista"

Sometimes the best thing in life are, well, not free, but cheap! So is the case with H&M nail polishes. I have shown you one of their old ones, but this is one of their new lines. It is slightly similar to China Glaze "Coconut Kiss", with the same velvety texture. Oh how I yearn for a deep pink version of this! This is 2 streak-free coats over Nubar Nu Nail and Sally Hansen MegaShine top coat. Wow! I am loving this nail polish and I think I need to return to H&M to check out some more of their current shades :)

Happy 30th little bro!

So it's was my little brothers big 3-0 birthday today, so I got him his childhood hero Mr T on a cake :)

And here is the link to the new super cute Boots 17 nail polishes from their new 'Candy' collection for Spring which I was going on about yesterday! I will wear more of these for Tuesday, I think I might mix them with another Isadora nail polish... :)

NOTD: Spring skittles

So, ahem, I'm out of practice from having a 2 week polish break, and tired from organising the inventory of the belongings that were ruined in the flood of our house. That's my excuse for the horrendous application! :) Oh well I guess there is no real excuse. I am sorry. I will do better next time.

I went to Boots today and giggled madly when I saw brand spanking new polishes from their 17 line. There are 5 shades and they are all bright pastels and I bought 3 outright (they have a 3 for 2 on the line right now). I might put on the lilac "Parma Violet" on tomorrow for my brother's birthday party!

This is the surprisingly opaque (2 coats here) pastel yellow "Sherbet Lemon" with the lovely Isadora "Vintage Mint" (2 coats) from their Spring collection (thanks Mum!). I used Sally Hansen Nail Quencher base coat and MegaShine top coat.

Also thank you Mum for my new Gudrun Sjöden cardigan! It's probably one of the most expensive pieces of clothing I own :) Goes miraculously well with my denim mini skirt!

Nu Nail update

So I did as stated on the packaging and applied a new layer for 6 days without taking it off or putting on polish, and then I had to remove the chippy mess on day 6 and put on a fresh layer.

My peels have not got bigger and my nails feel stronger, but I think I need some more moisture, because Nu Nail is very drying as you can see from the picture. My nails are very clean looking however - almost all of the staining is gone! I could actually put on a sheer polish and get away with it...

I would give Nu Nails 4 out of 5 stars. It doesn't contain any of the big 3 nasties, so it's definitely a good alternative to some of the other nail strengtheners.

I am going to use Sally Hansen Nail Quencher as base coat to today's manicure to lock in some moisture, but I can't decide which colour to put on so you'll have to wait for the NOTD :)

Another Guest NOTD and Nubar Nu Nail DAY 6 update

So Zeke is being most obliging and sending me her manicures to post as I am a manicure free woman til Saturday! Love the photo, much better than mine :)

This is DAY 6 of Nubar Nu Nails treatment and I must say they feel stronger but this 6 layers of treatment is a bit ridiculous - it's coming off tonight and a fresh layer is put on as the thick layer is cracking off the nails right now... So I will take some pics then and post for you all. From what I can see through the treatment polish, it looks like the peeling bits have stayed the same so perhaps I can get them to stop? My hands and cuticles are still pretty damn dry though despite all the handcream and Solar oil. Damn you, winter cold!!

Look at the lovely snowdrops I found in my front garden today as we visited the flooded house to let the restoration company empty all the damaged contents. Lovely aren't they? I also trellised the yellow climbing rose and discovered a variegated holly bush and some lovely yellow crocus under the Rhododendron bush :) I am hoping this won't take longer than June so I can start doing up the garden :)
